Craftsmanship

We take great pride in sourcing rugs that are crafted by skilled and talented artisans, who pour their creativity and expertise into every detail of their work. We are committed to providing only 100% handmade homeware, which carry a special touch of craftsmanship that cannot be replicated by machines. We hunt high & low for our ever-evolving curated collection while continually learning with fascination, about the crafts & the people behind these unique products.

Below are some of the crafts behind our collection.

Quilts

Our Jaipur quilts are made from 100% organic cotton by talented crafters in Rajasthan, India. They are made using a traditional technique called hand block printing; whereby artisans hand-carve patterns into wooden blocks which takes several hours or days, depending on the detail.

The blocks are then dipped in natural dyes and printed onto the cotton fabric to transfer the intricate pattern. This is repeated throughout the length of the fabric & the result is a beautiful, bold, 100% hand crafted textile. The fabric is filled with 100% cotton & carefully hand stitched to create a quilt.

Handloom

Our rugs are hand-woven featuring intricate patterns woven from warp and weft threads using a traditional weaving device called a Handloom. These rugs are known for their traditional craftsmanship, durability, and easy maintenance, making them a timeless addition to any space. Our handloom rugs are crafted from a variety of materials, including wool, cotton, and sustainable textiles like recycled denim & PET (yarn made from recycled plastic bottles).

There are many stages in the process of weaving a hand knotted wool rug. It all begins by carding the tangled fibres of raw wool so it can be spun and dyed. Once the yarn has dried, it is formed into a ball in preparation for weaving. The skilled crafter then weaves the rug by hand with patience & care to create a piece of art which will fill your home with texture, vibrancy & an interesting narrative.

Berber Rugs

Our Berber rugs are handmade in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco using 100% sheep's wool. Each rug is a unique work of art, with a combination of patterns, symbols, and vibrant colours that tell a story known only to the artisan who made it. No two rugs are exactly alike, making each one a truly special addition to your home.

The traditional techniques used to create Berber rugs have been passed down through generations of skilled artisans. The wool is carefully sourced and prepared, then dyed with  natural pigments, such as indigo, henna, and saffron, to achieve the rich and vibrant colours which are so apparent in Berber rugs. The weaving process is a labour-intensive one, with each knot carefully tied by hand to create a dense, plush pile that is both soft and durable. Each rug is traditionally finished with a fringe on one side of the rug; a distinctive detail symbolising the end of the story & then the finished rug, which sets Berber rugs apart from all other rugs.

The result is a true testament to the artistry and craftsmanship behind every Berber rug.

Brassware

Our handmade brassware is crafted by skilled artisans using traditional techniques that have been passed down through generations. Each piece is made with care and attention to detail, resulting in a stunning work of art that is both functional and beautiful.

We love celebrating the traditional symbolisms that feature in Moroccan culture, & you will notice that the blacksmiths recreate these symbols through their brassware. The Hamsa sign is probably the most well-known traditional symbol & represents protection and good luck in many cultures. Our artisans carefully craft each one to showcase its intricate details and symbolism; the brass is heated and hammered by hand to create the unique shape and texture of the hamsa, and then polished to a beautiful shine.

Each brassware creation is a work of art, embodying the essence of Moroccan culture.
